VDSL Modem
VDSL modems are commonly used in a hybrid local loop scenario, with FTTC (Fiber to the Curb) providing distribution from the CO to the neighbourhood and VDSL over copper taking the High Speed Internet access signal to the home. They can also be utilized to extend a LAN over existing phone lines into commercial buildings or campus environments.
These modems include phone splitters for voice and they utilize the existing telephone line to transport Ethernet traffic over VDSL framing. Different technologies of VDSL are deployed for different applications.
VDSL 4 bands
The VD4FT, SWM-xxVD4 are available for "Point to Point" and "Gateway" applications. They are characterized by:
Symmetrical data rates are 25Mbps at 0,8Km (.5 miles), 15Mbps at 1.3km (.81 miles), and 5Mbps at 1.9km 1.18 miles).

A "Point to Point" solution includes a master CO and a slave CPE without flow control.

and Multipoint or Gateway applications include an automatic administration of the flow, through VLAN tagging and QoS management.

VDSL-2
The VD2A-4TTX is available for "Point to Point" applications. Performance characteristics include:
Asymmetrical flow up to 100 Mbps at 300m (980 ft), 50 Mbps at 500m (1640 ft) and 25 Mbps at 1 Km (3280 ft).
