The 2853 analog rack card modem

The AJ Rack Mount Modems provide full duplex communication of up to 33.6 Kbps over 2/4-Wire Leased Line or 2-Wire dial up lines. For increased throughput and reliability, AJ modems offer features such as Selective Reject (reducing unnecessary retransmissions), Autodial, Automatic Dial Back Up, Real-Time Line Monitoring and Statistical Counters, Error Correction/Data Compression and Good Connection Redial. In addition it has a user friendly modem programming interface.

As per ITU specifications, security modems includes sub-rates of 31.2, 28.8, 26.4, 24.0 and 21.6 Kbps. AJ Security Modems will operate with other similar modems through Automode. Automode connects the modems at the highest communication speed available to both modems.

Security:

Callback, Answerback & Pass Through

Manual Code & Password Access

Operator & Supervisor Password

Protect your stored configurations and passwords. A dual level Security design prevents unauthorized access and changes to stored profiles, stored passwords, and stored callback phone numbers. Additional protection is provided for access to the "AT" dialer and remote configuration changes.

UADBU (Unattended Automatic Dial Back-Up)

If the leased line fails, UADBU, an AJ standard, automatically re-establishes communication over the switched network by dialing a pre-stored phone number. With intelligent loopback, AJ Security Modems also monitor the leased line signal quality in order to restore automatically when the failure clears.

Ease of Configuration:

AJ Modems can be configured locally via the serial interface using "AT" commands or through the modem front panel. Do you need to update or change the configuration profile of a remote modem? Just dial the modem, issue a special command and configure the modem as if it were in your office. Rapid changes can be made with Downline Loading under computer-control. Configuration profiles can be changed with a single command.

For installations which operate under non-standard protocols, the modems can be configured to meet the user's requirements and then stored in non-volatile memory.

Based on an extended "AT" command set, the autodialer can dial any of the 100 numbers stored in memory. Alternate numbers can be dialed if the original call is not successful. The integral V.25bis dialer typically saves two valuable communications ports per node for operation with systems such as the IBM AS/400
